BORGERHOUT SQUIRRELS - DEURNE (ATWERP) - Belgium
Borgerhout Squirrels was founded on 1947, September 19th by Frans Van der Velden and some other very enthousiastic people. This American sport attracted a lot of youth so that Borgerhout was the sixth club to be registered by the Belgian Baseball and Softball Federation.
The first period of the club there was only baseball but from 1975 we started with softball also, and became a complete club.
At this moment we have 11 teams in competition and over 150 players.
Our Softball men’s team where Belgium’s best for several years but the girls did not reach yet that honor.
The girls team do play in de first division in Belgium for many years now, most of the time ended between place 3 and 6. In 2005 we reached our highest result and became second, witch give us the change to play for the first time in an European Cup.
The quality of our players reflects it selves in the way that some players (men and women) are selected for the national team.
Borgerhout Squirrels is a very dynamic baseball club which lies his special attention in youth working and the further expansion of his club. The members of the board will do everything to fulfill all the needs that are necessary to lead this club to higher levels.
